BS to Master of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Undergraduate students at Rice University participating in the BS/MCEE Program may take up to two courses (six hours) of graduate level courses each semester while completing their undergraduate degree. The graduate courses must be chosen from those that satisfy the MCEE degree, no course can be used simultaneously to satisfy both the undergraduate and graduate degree.

With proper planning and coordination with faculty, an extra fifth year of coursework will allow undergraduates to obtain a non-thesis professional Master of Civil or Environmental Engineering:

How to Apply

Undergraduate students at Rice University are eligible to the program. Admission is open to:

  • Rice juniors and seniors who have shown academic excellence in their undergraduate studies with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Additionally, the GRE test is waived for students who hold a 3.2 GPA or higher.

Applications have to be received within the application deadline for the program. With faculty advising and approval, students will develop a plan of study for the required coursework to complete the program.
