Environmental ranks 14th, civil 20th in US News top graduate engineering programs

Environmental up one spot, while civil rose seven.

Environmental engineering at Rice tied for 14th and civil engineering tied for 20th among the nation’s top graduate programs in the 2022 U.S. News and World Report rankings.

This marks the 13th year in a row in which the environmental engineering program, which rose one spot this year, has placed in the top 25 in the category of “Best Graduate Schools (Engineering, Environmental),” and the fifth in a row in which it has placed in the top 20.

The civil engineering program rose seven spots this year. This is the seventh year in a row in which the program has placed in the top 30 in the category of “Best Graduate Schools (Engineering, Environmental).”

The annual assessment is based on evaluations by department chairs at peer engineering schools.
