In the 21st century, natural disasters, aging infrastructure, and climate change produce very real problems for people around the world. As scientists, we study these issues to improve our knowledge and understanding. As engineers, we design and implement solutions that work in real-time. Rice CEE has dynamic research groups working in urban infrastructure, hydrology and water resources, structural engineering and mechanics, water quality, environmental infrastructure, disasters, and risk, as well as air, energy, climate, and sustainability.
