Environmental engineering at Rice University tied for 16th and civil engineering placed 34th among the nation’s top graduate programs in the 2023 U.S. News and World Report rankings.
This marks the 15th year in a row in which the environmental engineering program has ranked in the top 25 in the category of “Best Graduate Schools (Engineering, Environmental),” and the sixth in a row in which it has placed in the top 20.
This is the eighth year in a row in which the civil engineering program has placed in the top 35 in the category of “Best Graduate Schools (Engineering, Civil).”
Among private universities, environmental engineering at Rice ranked eighth and civil engineering ninth.
The annual assessment is based on evaluations by department chairs at peer engineering schools.
