1. Describe your research focus and/or current research project(s) you are working on.
I work on catalytic degradation mechanisms for emerging contaminants. Heterogeneous catalysis offers the potential of chemical free, low energy, and cost effective methods to remediate contaminated sources.
2. Why did you choose this area of research?
I am driven by a passion for finding solutions for communities without access to clean water, both in the US and internationally.
3. What would you like to pursue after graduation?
I hope to continue my career in academia as a research professor that somehow contributes to the betterment of society through water sustainability, whether this be within access, reuse, or decontamination.
4. What advice or insights do you have for those just beginning their graduate career in CEE at Rice, or for those interested in the program?
You should ask about what other students are researching–always. You may find a collaborator or learn something new!
5. What do you enjoy doing when you're not working on your degree?
On a weekend, I love to go for a long run, hang out with my friends, my partner, and my cat (Louise), and then be outside! I love to bike, golf, cheer on my favorite sports teams, and explore all of the amazing Houston restaurants and breweries.
