PhD students receive IASSAR best paper awards

Yi Luo won in the first-class category, while Bowen Fu won in the second-class category.

Two doctoral students in civil and environmental engineering (CEE) at Rice have received best paper awards from the International Association for Structural Safety and Reliability (IASSAR).

The awards were presented at the 13th International Conference on Structural Safety and Reliability, held Sept. 14-17 at Tongji University in Shanghai, China.

Winning the best paper award in the first-class category was Yi Luo, who works in the research group of Pol Spanos, the Lewis B. Ryon Professor in Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Her paper was titled “Efficient analyses of stochastic responses of multi-dimensional nonlinear systems endowed with fractional derivative elements by the GE-GDEE.”

Winning the best paper award in the second-class category was Bowen Fu, who works in the research group of Leonardo Dueñas-Osorio, professor of CEE. His paper was titled “Resilience-informed infrastructure network dismantling.”
