1. Describe your research focus and/or current research project(s) you are working on.

Reliability of infrastructure systems.

2. Why did you choose this area of research--what inspired you (e.g. a particular course, professor, event when you were younger, project, trip, etc.)?

My previous working experience helped me realize that system-level reliability is hard to obtain but essential for understanding the robustness of an engineering system.

3. What would you like to pursue after graduation?

I would like to continue a career in academic research.

4. What advice or insights do you have for those just beginning their graduate career in CEE at Rice, or for those interested in the program?

Be open-minded and expose yourself to as many events and opportunities as possible.

5. What do you enjoy doing (hobbies or interests) when you're not working on your degree?

Tennis, Cycling, Snowboarding.

6. Do you have a fun fact you'd like to share about yourself or your work?

I worked as a structural engineer in Japan before joining Rice.
